Hughes Awarded North American Retail Market Penetration Leadership Award by Frost & Sullivan
Germantown, Md., July 24, 2007—Hughes Network Systems, LLC (HUGHES) today announced that it has received the North American Vertical Market
Penetration Leadership Award for managed voice and data CPE service, specifically the managed network services for the retail sector. The Frost and Sullivan Award recognizes Hughes for its ability to attract customers across the retail vertical, develop solutions that meet customers’ specific infrastructure management needs, and provide strong customer support.
“While other vendors offer a satellite access option for their VPNs, few have integrated it from a service delivery and management standpoint,” said Frost & Sullivan Industry Analyst, Imran Khan. “Hughes’ ability to offer greater reliability, higher network availability, and greater throughput at price points that are lower
than those for private-line WAN access, further enhance the company’s value proposition among distributed enterprises such as those in the retail and hospitality verticals.”
Since introducing the first Ku-band VSAT (very small aperture terminal) network over 20 years ago, Hughes has been leading the way in technological advances and innovative service offerings. Its HughesNet® brand integrates both terrestrial and satellite broadband solutions into a fully managed service, offering its enterprise customers reliable broadband solutions and market-leading hybrid technology all from a single service provider.
Hughes’ current offerings include:
- HughesNet Managed Network Services—which combines satellite and terrestrial technologies as part of the High Availability VPN, Optimized VPN, and Access Continuity Services;
- HughesNet Digital Media Services—providing digital signage, business IPTV, content distribution, and employee training; and
- HughesNet ISP Services—full-service ISP service including reliable Internet connectivity and a suite of enhanced services such as customized start pages, domain hosting, personalized Web addresses, blogging, and advanced hosting.
“Our ability to integrate satellite and terrestrial broadband technologies allows us to give our customers a comprehensive managed broadband service throughout the U.S.,” said Mike Cook, senior vice president, North America. “Compared to other service providers that are often constrained by the geographic limitations of
wire-line transport platforms, we can leverage our satellite solution to offer an array of services. We’re thrilled to have that capability recognized by a company such as Frost & Sullivan.”
